"The most special property of Jojoba oil, is that it does not go rancid"
For about $6 at Trader Joe’s, you can get a 6oz bottle of Jojoba Oil (a few more dollars at Whole Foods stores and other health food stores). Jojoba oil, by their very nature do not go rancid. Here, 13 uses for jojoba oil:
- Good for your cuticles, rub a dollop onto cuticles and nails and rub in daily. This is especially great to keep your cuticles moistened, soft, and supple. Use more often in winter. Also, adds strength to nails. this is my favorite use for this lovely oil. It does not have an odor like others such as coconut oil....Jojoba is very scent-less, which makes it an excellent choice for application. Who wants to walk around smelling like a Pina Colada???!
- Body oil: Almost scentless, jojoba oil can be applied neat (without having to be diluted), or it can also be used as a carrier oil for your other favorite essential oils. Feeling adventurous? Add a few drops of jasmine essential oil, or lavender essential oil and apply to damp skin after a shower to lock in moisture. Lavender also acts as a antimicrobial, antiinflammatory agent. It is most revered for its ability to be applied neat to the skin to treat burns. Jasmine is known for its alluring scent (more costly than most), it was rumored that some ancient queens use it to seduce their kings, dating all the way back to Cleopatra.
- Scalp moisturizer: Put a few drops on fingertips and massage onto scalp. For luscious, beautiful locks, taking care of the scalp is essential to long, beautiful hair. Most of us condition and shampoo and treat our hair, and forget about the origins of the hair--the scalp
- Eye and Face makeup remover: add a few drops of jojoba oil to finger or cotton ball and wipe over face and eyes. Rinse with water and follow with your favorite cleanser
- Face moisturizer: To normal or dry skin, apply with a few drops of jojoba oil on fingers or cotton ball. Remove with water, then pat a few more drops to damp skin for a lasting moisture treatment
- Body Oil: jojoba oil is a great moisturizer for body, and will lock in moisture especially well when applied right after a shower or bath
- Bath Oil: apply a few drops under running bath water for a moisturizing bath experience
- Hair mask: use a quarter-sized amount of oil over damp hair, focusing on the ends. wait 5-10 minutes before shampooing. this will protect the dry ends of hair from some harsh chemicals of the shampoo. Afterwards you may also rub one or two drops onto ends to end split ends.
- Carrier oil: apply a few drops of your favorite essential oil such as tea tree, or lavender, and massage into skin
- Summer hair: apply a quarter-sized amount to hair before going into the pool to protect it from the chlorine and other harsh chemicals in the pool
- overnight feet moisturizer: put a few drops into favorite cream or ointment, apply to feet, focusing on dry areas such as the balls and heel, and put on cotton socks. Keep on overnight.
