You can use this technique to open almost any jar--whether it's a brand new jar with a really stubborn lid, or a jar containing sweets that crystallize around the rim and would no longer open.....
you COULD use rubber gloves (like the ones you use to wash your dishes, or garden gloves with rubber grips)...or you can use this technique: so simple:
Hit the rim of the metal lid with the back of a metal spoon (or any other metal object). Just keep hitting away until you can open it. This does not compromise the integrity of the lid in any way. It still seals perfectly fine.
