20 Ingenious Ways to use Baking Soda You Never Thought Of (In the Kitchen Version)
Tenderize meat: soften up your steak by rubbing it down in baking soda. let it sit in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 hours, then rinse it off well before cooking
Soak out fish smells: get rid of fishy smell from your store-bough flounder fillets and fish steaks by soaking the raw fish for about an hour inside the refrigerator in 1 quart water with 2 tablespoons baking soda. rinse and pat dry before cooking
Reduce GERD: a bit of baking soda, an alkalizing agent, can be added to high-acid content of tomato-based sauces, or coffee by sprinkling in a pinch of baking soda while cooking (or in coffee, before brewing), without altering the taste much
